ASUS to Build Mainboards For Intel

Posted 12/12/02 at 2:40 pm by Anton

ASUSTeK Computer has landed orders from Intel to build mainboards for the largest semiconductor vendor on the contract basis. According to a report from a Taiwanese news-paper DigiTimes, one of the biggest computer components maker will produce Intel Springdale-based mainboards starting from the first quarter next year. The contract includes the manufacturing of 4 million mainboards in total.

next year Intel wants to unveil its mainboards code-named ?Rapid city? that will be based on the code-named Springdale core-logic. The mainboard will feature loads of functions for overclockers and computer hardware enthusiasts

Ahh,

So thats why they hook up with Asus... "Intel" branded board and overclocking? Hell, why not just buy Asus board then (as before).

I dont see it as a bad thing myself. We dont really know the whole details, Intel may still be designing them and just having asus manufactuer them. I wonder how this will affect Asus's AMD motherboards... I dont think they would have accepted anything that would lower their marketshare like not selling some AMD MBs. Anyways Asus has always had quite stable MBs and I dont think this is a bad choice for Intel. Asus has a ton of motherboard manufacturing experience, and is probably the best choice for them.

Well I only see this as a good thing myself, ASUS is a fine company, they really know how to build a mobo. Love my ASUS P4PE, great features, stability even the packaging and software/instructions are some of the best for any computer part I ever seen.

That's why they are up and around #1.
I think other companies are at least as good, Asus is not the only manufacturer on that type of product quality level. but I am considering getting an A7N8X because I don't hear anything as good from other NForce2 boards as this one.

I wouldn't call myself a fanboy, but Im definately very fond of Asus mobo's, mostly cause I've found their quality to very good.
They may not always have the best OCing features, etc etc, but they're always reliable.

My latest purchase was an Epox board, and it's been fine, but I dont think they quite compare to Asus in terms of quality, my friend with the same mobo(8KHA+) had lots of problems, and finally his mobo died a while back, and the chipset fan on mine is acting up quite a bit.
