Some months ago I had reported on the poor packaging of my P4S333 which I had bought from TC Computers. Despite the packaging the board ran for 4 months almost flawlessly.
The only problem being an occasional boot into Setup with an error message about wrong CPU settings and running in Safe Mode. After a reboot this would go away.
High temp readings caused me to reinstall the mobo in a new better ventilated case about four weeks ago.
After the reinstall the system booted and ran perfectly for about 40 minutes after which it locked up and refused to reboot only reporting the "system failed cpu test" message.
Occasionally the system would succesfully start but crash after a few minutes giving the same error message on attempted restart .
The motherboard did this in and out of the case, with different CPUs, with and without any peripherals.
It last ran (for 50 minutes this time) about six hours ago.I figured it was all my fault and was about to order another Asus.
I then noticed several other reports on the web (and this forum) about Asus boards with exactly the same problem !
What gives! I can't go through this again! I am now considering a Dragon Ultra or Fire Dragon.
Comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
