FC4 crashed (after 30 minutes) with my 4790k locked at 4GHz@1.23, with my 2400 ram locked at 1600, and gpu at stock settings.

Underclocked my Titan X by -90 core and -200 vram ... still testing after 2 hours no crash yet. D: Crash at 3h02m ... damn, I don't know what to do. Everything is underclocked, and it still crashes.

I'm going to rip out the Titan X, and put in the old Titan and see what happens. (No og Titan crash yet.)
Maybe you should try 350 hotfix and see if it crashes? Or maybe you are using 350 ?

Also yesterday I installed 350 HOTFIX. Far Cry 4 played 24 hours without driver crash. So on 347.88 my card is just unstable? Is this because driver 347.88 pushing my card harder and card is unstable? Or its was only driver issue?
I am thinking why my card seems not stable on 347.88 WHQL. Any suggestions?

I expect it's driver issues as it's happening across generations of cards.

I still can't get FC4 to crash with og Titan yet.

I see new whql drivers 350.12 are out. Gonna swap the Titan X back in. If FC4 still crashes, gonna call nv support for a refund.

I installed 350.12 WHQL ( GTA V ready ) . And game is crashing video driver still.
Only on 350.05 is not crashing. I tested 24 hours Far Cry 4 on 350.05 and no single crash. TOday i installed 350.12 WHQL and after 5 mintues crash. Its something with my card if on 2 versions of drivers my card are not stable?

344.75 WHQL - no crashing
350 HOTFIX - no crashing
350.12 WHQL - crashing video driver in Far Cry 4
347.88 WHQL - crashing video driver in Far Cry 4 .

I'm almost certain it's just flaky graphics cards. Not a single crash with 347.88 + my older Titan.

But some person ( because i ask him ) with Asus Strix 980 ( the same card like me ) have the same TDR problem only in Far Cry 4 on that drivers. So we both have flaky card?

But i tested on all of the drivers ( 344.75 , 347.88 , 350 HOTFIX , 350.12 WHQL ) Unigine Heaven and its stable. Only Far Cry 4 is crashing on each driver versions ( 350.12 WHQL and 347.88 WHQL ). It because Far Cry 4 dont like any OC or its driver \ game problem?

Aren't the "Strix" cards overclocked by default. You should set them to default clocks for stability testing just in case.

7.5 hours no problem on OG Titan. Then crash on new Titan X after 2.5 hours. It seems repeatable so far.

350.12 also crashed here.

I've never seen a Heaven / Valley crash either (at stock settings) on any driver.

What's curious is that my Titan X crashes even at -90/-200 core/vram. That wants to make me to say "driver issue" ... I just don't know. Titan is Kepler and Titan X is Maxwell, so in reality even those both are on 347.88 they are really using 2 different code paths in the driver. Just because my Titan works with 347.88 doesn't mean that it's not the driver. What I need is a second Titan X to test with ...

I think i resolved issue. I downgraded from update 1.7 to 1.6. After that i dont see more driver crashing in Far Cry 4 using 350.12 WHQL.But i will take a look further. So how this is possible that patch was causing TDR?

Because its a software issue. Like it is in the very wast majority of TDR cases.

The TDR trigger if the OS doesnt get a response from the driver in a predefined timeout. The driver however can be busy with a game, a sensoring application or similar. So the TDR will trigger even tho everything is working perfectly fine.

It also depends what OS you use. Windows 7 TDR is much more buggy than Windows 8 for example.

And registry keys to chaneg TDR values:

Windows 8 changes:

I don't think the problem is FC4. Problem is my Titan runs endlessly with no crashes in FC4. Titan X will dump me out to desktop 95% the way through a FC4 mission, it's a huge PITA. So I don't think that it is FC4 or BL TPS fault. At this point I don't care if it's the driver or the card -- going to get a refund. I will try another Titan X card later after they release a few new driver revisions, or just wait for 980Ti. Stability is king, sorry.

Ill chime in with my gtx 970 on farcry 4. With 347.xx whql drivers got constant crashing. With 350.xx hotfix drivers no crashing at all for hours. With latest 350.xx whql drivers it crashes with sensor apps (argus, gpu-z) running in background, otherwise its fine (only 1 crash so far). 350.xx hotfix drivers were stable as a rock even with sensor apps running. Seems like flaky drivers r the main issue.

But somebody say to me"Modern NVIDIA GPU drivers push the GPUs harder, and sometimes they were clocked too high at the factory."
Is this because driver 350.12 WHQL and 347.88 WHQL driver pushes the card harder in FC4 and is simply revealing a problem with card? What you think? Or its just simply TDR software conflict?

I used my OG Titan last night, played a couple hours, left the Buzzer circling mid-air all night, then played more in the morning, 11 hours total in FC4 continuous (in addition to 7.5 hours earlier.) The OG Titan has never turned in a TDR / CTD in the last 27 months I've owned it.

Popped in the Titan X (using 350.05 HotFix), and it lasted 30 minutes and crashed. I give up, I'm going to call up for a refund today (since nVidia store doesn't do RMA apparently.) I don't care why it doesn't work (driver vs card) -- it just doesn't work reliably.

Litwicki, I really think there is a small percentage of faulty cards on the market. The forums aren't overrun, so I don't think the problem manifests for all the cards. Just some of us "lucky" winners. This smells so much like the 560 / 560 Ti fiasco. In the end the cards were dubbed faulty (unsolvable TDRs and CTD).

I left run today Far Cry 4 on 350.12 WHQL for 8 hours without crash, but i reverted from update 1.7 to 1.6. Maybe this is reason or maybe luck?

You just left it running, or you were actually running around and stressing the system? Probably luck if you were just idling in the same spot. That's why I left my FC4 game in the Buzzer circling in the sky, at least it's doing some activity overnight.

I just started the refund return process with nVidia, so sad too bad. There are no answers, except "it works" or "it doesn't work". Your setup doesn't work either -- so I would suggest trying a different card. I wish you luck!
