Between the Asus Striker II formula 780i board and Asus P5N72-T 780i board, which one should I get? And which one can overclock better? I want to get at least 1600+FSB, can the Striker II Formula do that even though it only supports to 1333FSB? I know the Striker is higher price too but looking at the spec the P5N72-T is better so what's the deal?

The cpu that Im going to use is Q9450 (45nm) can both of those boards support this new 45nm cpu? (they're both nvidia 780i chipset boards)

With every new mishap, I'm becoming more cautious. I think I blew up my 680i Striker Extreme just for running it at 400 Mhz (i.e. 1600 FSB). And it's rated under warranty to 1333. I have another one running at 350 and 1400 FSB, and it's just fine.

So now, I have gobs of good DDR2 memory, two C2D processors (E6600 and E8400), two 9600 GT cards -- and I need a mobo replacement before the supply of DDR2-capable motherboards disappears.

If you can find one that at least shows a spec of 1600 FSB (OC), then I think you're probably better off.

Hey there--I know this is a little late, just joined the forums.

I built a machine recently with the P5N72-t premium. Just so you know, the P5N72-T and the Asus Strike II Formula are the EXACT SAME BOARD. They have different stickers, one has a slightly better heatsink, and the colors of the SATA sockets are different (red vs blue), but they are identical. They'll overclock the same.

I can run an 1800 FSB no problem. I'm under water, but the circuits can handle the wattage easily. I haven't tried pumping it up much higher than than because I've hit my mem and cpu max, but I wouldn't be surprised if I could reach 1900. The newer revisions of the board have better quality circuits too.

I'd warn against buying this board if it's not too late, though--they have MAJOR problems. The HSI chip between PCIe x16 slots overheats really easily, the onboard LAN craps out. I'm on my 3rd iteration of this board--the only reason I don't switch is because everything fits fine already.
