I have been running the RC flawlessly for a couple of months now and I have had this issue since day 1 but it is becoming much more frequent and its driving me nutts. Aparently the network driver is not the best in windows 7 as my connection will just randomly drop. I know this is an issue with the driver for windows 7 as this did not happen in vista and I have verified that no other computers on my network are dropping connection and I have also changed out cables etc. When the connection does go down its a simple 2 click process to get it back but it will not resolve on its own and when gaming online this proves to be a very aggrevating issue. Does anyone know of any fixes for this or a better driver than the nvidia nforce chipset package from the nvidia website?

This method has been reported to be a successful fix for the problem. I've had mine configured like this for a day and have yet to drop connection.

Go into your LAN config and set it up like this:

Sleep on disconnect: enabled
Flow control: disabled
Interrupt moderation: disabled
IP Checksum offload: disabled
Jumbo Packet: 9014 bytes (this might have no effect for you)
ALL Large Send Offloads: disabled
BOTH Low power: enabled
Network address: not present
Priority & VLAN: priority enabled
Receive side scaling: disabled
Speed/duplex settings: auto
ALL TCP & UDP offloads: disabled
VLAN id: 1
ALL Wake ons: enabled

Screenshot for reference: CLICK

I'll also add that "Receive Side Scaling" could possibly be the main problem causing the dropped connections. I meant to go back and set everything back to default with the exception of the side scaling but I haven't got around to it. Try just disabling that and leaving everything else as-is and see if you still get dropped connections. If it's still dropping then try the config from above.

Leave a reply when you get it sorted.

Thank you soo much for this. I am at work currently so I cannot try this untill the end of my shift but I will be doing so as soon as I get home. I will try it out for the weekend and stress the connection and see how it works out. I will let you know when i get back on monday.

So far so good. I disabled the recieve slide scaling and unchecked allow windows to turn off this device to conserve power and that seems to be working. I have not stressed the connection yet though as nothing has shown up recently that I would like/need to download but as soon as that happens I'll report back.

Again Thanks

I'm glad it's working well now. I still haven't set everything back to default with the exception of the side scaling. Everything seems to be working perfectly now I'll probably just leave it this way until my quarterly reinstall. I've maxed out the connection speed over the weekend a lot while multitasking and my connection has been rock solid.

Since I recieved such a quick resolution with the last question let me ask another that maybe yall can help with. I play a game right now called Everquest 2. In Everquest 2 we have a voice chat system and I have an el cheapo Cyber Accoustics headset that I use for Voice chat. The headset was bought at walmart awhile back and before I installed Windows 7 64 Bit RC I had no issues with voice. Now everyone in my guild is complaining about stuttering in game when im talking. They say that it sounds like I am letting go of the button too soon that is my push to talk button. I have been playing with settings over the past couple of months trying to fix this issue but have not been able to get it to go away.

Any suggestions for resolving this issue?

Probably need to take a look at the driver you're using for the audio. If you're using Win7's default driver you might want to install the one specific to your onboard audio. Also it may be possible that Everquest may not like Win7. Sorry I can't give you a definitive answer.

Thank you JasonSix78 -

What JasonSix78 has posted here is the most useful information ever shared for ASUS Striker Extreme Motherboard owners. For the last 3 months I have been losing connection to the internet 5 times or more per day. I tried everything to resolve the problem and the random disconnects from the web continued.

I was losing my mind over this problem. All other computers, game consoles, and devices sharing the same internet connection had no issues and worked flawlessly. Yet the computer with the ASUS Striker Extreme motherboard continued to randomly disconnect itself from the internet.

I tried the fix JasonSix78 outlined above. Wallah!!!! Problem solved. No more random disconnects and I have not lost connection for 3 days straight.

Hats off to JasonSix78. I cannot thank him enough for this fix and solution.
