ASUS Striker Extreme. (NOT USE 1033 RAM)

I ordered all my stuff and ordered the ASUS Striker Extreme and some Crucial Ballistix 2GB SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) .

So I start getting games closing and stuff and try all sorts of stuff to get it to work and I just don't think it supports this ram.

Anyone have this setup???

I figured for sure since the board supports 1333 cpu's that it would support at least 1033 ram...
It don't ... It does run it decent now that i have swapped one of the sets out that was giving me tons of problems. Still though stuff does happen now and then ... games do crash now and then to the desktop but not real real often.

I think I setup the timings and everything right and voltage... Do you all think I need to just forget about it and go for the ddr2 800?

Right now I am thinking thats my only option. I am also thinking why in the hell didn't this board support it and would it have made it that much faster? seems that it would have at least.

I have the striker extreme and some mushkin redline ram, I think it was DDR2-1100 but it has been so long that I since forgot precisely what it was.

If it matters I can find out, but what I wanted to say is that the RAM on striker extremes seem to need the voltage!

Not sure what your comfort level is, or what your ram is rated to survive at, but don't be shy of trying 2.2V on your ram. On my striker extreme I lose (according to the BIOS anyways) about 0.1V on my ram settings, so 2.2V set turns out to be 2.1V applied.

I definitely cannot run my Mushkin at anything above DDR2-800 if I leave the voltages at "stock" BIOS settings.

Yeah, I set it at 2.2 would you suggest giving 2.3 a try?

I would so much rather not have to try and get new egg to take back this ram and send me the 800 version of it.
