I'd need someone to give me information first.

I'm particularly familiar with ASUS boards, so they were no problem. I should have an Athlon XP FAQ for ASUS boards coming soon.

Any people very familiar with other brands? I suppose LXi could cover MSI boards, but it's hard to get information from Abit and other brands.

<< OK, I know I've copied and pasted the same thing over and over again, but finally I've managed to re-write the whole thing and have it posted as a FAQ.

It also comes in as the 100th FAQ for AnandTech:

What is the fastest processor I can use on an ASUS Slot 1 motherboard?

This FAQ covers all ASUS Slot 1 motherboards except the abandoned P3C (i820 Slot 1 RDRAM) series of boards.

Great work Andy!
I have an Asus P3-BF with PCB ver.1004 and Bios 1006
I can't seem to find Bios Beta 1008 00x anywhere.
First of all is this just a CPU code upgrade or a necessary Bios change?
Secondly, how extactly do these cpucode.exe upgrades work? Are they
complete Bios codes, which normally have an .awd extention or are they
flashed differently?
Thanks for all your info and updates!

Once again hats off to you Andy very well done and informative. I went to the sites you noted. I have a p3v4x, if i understood correctly the slotket i should get is the S370-DL. Thinking of upping from my P3 600mhzEB to either 1ghz P3 or celeron format. Am i reading the information correctly.

Thank you for your assistance as always.:):)
