Im interested in these particular boards because they both have heatpipes instead of the traditional fan and so i was wondering which is a more reliable board?

I should say also that I dont plan to use dual video cards I am just interested in the ASUS premium because it has a lot of features and of course the heatpipe.

I've never had any problems with Asus or Abit boards, both would make a great choice.

Do you plan on doing extreme ocing (300 fsb+) or have ram that needs 3.0+ volts? If so abit all the way. Just looking for great stability, and great features? Asus is the way to go. Most Asus A8N series boards can only get to 265-280 fsb. I got lucky and my Asus A8N-SLI (non deluxe) can reach a fsb of 310.

Say no to Asus.

The Abit AN8 Ultra is a great OCing mobo, & the silent cooling is awesome.

I love my Abit AN8 ULTRA. Its silent, and stable and has loads of OCing options. Just a few things to be aware of. It has a USB issue, the system has issues with things plugged into the USB ports. Somtimes it won't boot, other times it will. I've been told it will be fixed with the next BIOS update. And I had a problem with generic RAM with my stick of Crucial, the generic was 2700 and the crucial is 3200. The system would lock up and was very unstable but once I got rid of the generic stick the system has been fine since. I'd recommend this board.

I'm happy with my ASUS A8N-SLI Premium, of course it's brand new..I'll let you know in 6 months or a year if I'm totally satisfied. Never had an ABIT board, read a lot of negatives about them can't say from my personal experience they are such but usually when you read forums/messageboards and ask questions sooner or later you find out what is and what is not. The same goes for ASUS, they made some lemons (A8N-SLI Deluxe Chipset Fan Failure).

I was split between DFI and ASUS when I assembled my new AMD based system.

Another interesting fact, has anyone noticed how similar the ASUS and ABIT websites are? And the fact that both ASUS and ABIT's US branches are located in the same town (Fremont, CA).

One thing I do see on ABIT's site is a quick link to replacement parts, maybe a good or bad sign depending on how you take it.
