Last night I went to the Asus site just to see if there was a new bios update, and surely there was, 1003 official release. I went to sleep, woke up today and went back to the site, just to see if I was dreaming, and guess what? No Bios. The only thing is that I managed to download it last night while it was still up, gonna update my bios right now. I wonder why they took it off, maybe they found something wrong with it?

If Asus pulled it, the evidentially found a problem with it. That's the only time they pull a bios image from their ftp server.

Dunno if it's related or not, but I flashed to the 1003 final bios yesterday. Came back to the computer today after it had been sitting idle for a spell and it had lost my Maxtor 300 gig SATA drive. ... Rebooted, still gone. Powered off and back on... there it was. Came back. Weird.

I know others have been having issues with the Maxtors and this MB. I've had this board up and running pretty stable for a month now. First time anything like that's happened.

Hope it's not a harbinger....

There must be something wrong with that bios because I flashed to it and my computer will not start now... just a blank screen

This is normal. You needed to enter cmos setup and reset your bios settings for your particular configuration, as the flash automatically loads plain default settings.

ok allright.

so what about the following thing: after flash or time resert (battery out & reset pin) the comp doesn't want to boot off an sata drive. I mean I have 3 ata & 2 SATA drives in. the system is on master sata1. the rest drives have no system on. however, the pc won't boot.

why does the comp not recognise where to boot from. I allways get the "no system" message. in order to boot, I have to remove the other drives and only leave the ine with system in. then boot windows. on next boot everything s ok.

btw. how to set up in bios to boot from a specific drive. using asus a8n-sli deluxe I only can set up cd-rom, hdd etc., but not an exact drive or cd-rom.

thx

:) you answered before I even finished typing.

ok I'll check it out. I suppose that's why the sys allways waits for an raid configuration, although turned off in bios.

I'm not at home right now, but when I get back I will check it out.

 For selecting which particular drive set to boot from. Go into the Boot Menue/Hard Disk Drives in the bios and move your particular boot drive to the top of the list. ;)

i think it doesn't really matter whether it's pulled or not, we've got it, and it works no better or worse than previous betas. What matters is will it fix the main bugs (audigy, maxtors, etc.) and overclocking "problem"...

Apparently it does matter Max. Some are having problems after flashing to the 1003 final, (as in no video). I'd just like to see Asus release a functioning bios. ;)

I had no problem, but it didn't want to flash from ASUS Update, so since I don't have floppy, I had to go with Alt+F2 and use EEPROM built in flash utility to flash trough DVD-R drive... I still do hope they'll get serious and make a functional bios. We all do :)
