i had 1 SATA hd and now im installing a second and i wanna create a performance array.....will the info on my first hd get erased?

if you are talking about raid 0, then I would think so. raid 0 "stripes" equall amounts of info across both drives, thus theoretically making it faster, because it only has to write half as much info to either drive at a particullar time. Because of this, I think the drives have to have the info divided evenly across the 2 (not one more full than the other, like is currently the case with your 2 hdd's). However, I would think you would just need to fully back up your current drive (using a back-up utillity of your choice [Norton Ghost is good]) Format it. Create your array, then do a full restore. I don't see any reason why that wouldn't work, unless there is a problem with the restore utillity detecting the raid array as 2 different drives, instead of 1 array. Anyone have more experience with this?

Just as a side note, this thread doesn't belong in the mobo area. You might get more responses if it was posted in general hardware, or tech support. ;)
