I'll be getting the motherboard on Monday and will start building the new system then.
Any tweaks or unusual circumstances I should be aware of?
I'm putting in an FX53 with 1 GB of Corair XMS registered memory.

Thanks for the help.

What else will you be putting into it, especially your boot drive (SATA/PATA/SCSI)? If it's like my K8V Deluxe, it may be a little different than you're accustomed to when it comes to boot-device selection, depending on what type of drive you're using.

I bought an SATA drive to put in it.
After spending that much cash on the three, I could only afford the one drive ;)
Any information is appreciated.

I'm very comfortable with just about any situation that can arise on motherboards. I've built a number of systems, but this is my 1st FX/Opteron system and didn't know of any quirks that I may come into.
Any info you have is great, you won't be going over my head by any means. Thanks!

First of all, for an Athlon64FX, you should only use VERY high-quality pizza and beverages when building it. It's only right. :)

On my K8V Deluxe, when I press the F8 key to go into the BIOS, it first goes "shopping" for bootable devices, by initializing the USB controllers, the Promise SATA controller and the VIA SATA controller (and the SCSI card), and then it goes into the BIOS after all of that's done. :p In the Boot menu, there's Boot Device Priority, and then there's a listing for Hard Drive below that IIRC (working from memory here, the system lives down at the office). You can tell it to boot from the hard drive, and then go and pick which hard drive, and hopefully that will do it.

Have fun with your new riggie!

I was thinking more along the lines of Don Perignon and Caviar :D

Thanks for the reply.

I'm been drooling now for 2 days and it's starting to look very unseamly..... LOL

Now if the NV40 or ATI 420 would just get here ;)
I do have money saved back for one of those bad boys..
