Anybody know if the board actually has the mounts for an 8045? My Tiger MP does not. If it does (and is as stable as my Tiger) I might consider upgrading. The ability to use 8045's + the MPX chipset would make it worth it.

Well, you're close fkloster but here's the real deal :

Lian-Li PC60
Integrated Watercooling (Black Ice XTreme radiator)
Enermax 450W FCA
Asus A7M266-D
Dual 1900MP's
2GB of registered ECC Crucial PC2100
Dual X15-36LP's (one boot, one data)
Radeon 7500 (this is my workstation not my game box)
Audigy Platinum (I hate to cross over to the dark side but...)
3Com 3CR990-TX-97
DUAL Sony F520's

I have the Radeon and the F520's and the PC60, PS and BIXtreme are supposedly on their ways. I've been planning this one for a looong time, can't wait to see it come together.

Woohoo!!! We're beginning to actually have a choice of dual motherboards to choose from. That rocks!! From what I hear though the Tiger is already a damn good board so this one will have to rock to give it any competition. Isn't that right Viper;)

You guys and your top of the line hardware (and upgrading every week!) :p

I'm still using SDRAM and the KT133 chipset. :D

Don't feel bad. I'm still on a Classic Athlon 650, SDram and a TNT2. I WILL be upgrading within the next couple of months and when I do it will be full fledged and one of the most comprehensive upgrades i've ever done without buying a complete system.:)

How come the 64bit PCI slots on the Asus look different than the ones that are currently on the Tyan Tiger MP?

<< The A7M266-D incorporates special features to protect the condition of your valuable CPU and motherboard. ASUS COP (CPU Overheating Protection) is a hardware protection circuit that automatically shuts down the system power before temperatures are high enough to permanently damage your CPU. The temperature is directly monitored from the thermal diode on AMD Athlon? MP and Athlon? XP processors, providing more accurate readings in real-time. Also included is an onboard warning light that prevents users from installing incompatible AGP cards (i.e. 3.3 V) which may permanently damage the motherboard. >>

This must be the first motherboard that actually takes advantage of the thermal diode in the Palomino right? Maybe other 760MPX boards will as well..

Because the latter are 64-bit/33MHz slots, and the former are 64-bit/66MHz slots. While 66MHz might sound better than 33MHz, the major drawback is that they are not backward compatible with 32-bit slots. Thus, you need special cards to fit there. And that's why I'm not buying anything of the sort.

Because they are 66 mz 64 bit and use 3.3 volts instead of 5 and are therefor keyed differntly.

No, A7V266-E is the first one. It appears likely, though, that all Asus boards will, from now on.

From Asus's website :

<< 64-bit PCI slots are backwards compatible and also support 32-bit PCI cards or peripherals. >>

Yes but only if those cards support the lower voltage. Most cards do but some don't
