Asus set up

I going to build my first system. Planning on using the Asus A7V266-E mobo mated with an AMD XP 1800 processer and Crucial 256mb pc 2100 DDR memory. Just trying to do my homework and see if anyone sees any faults with this set up or can I buy it tomorrow? Thanks, j.h.

Nothing wrong with that at all, however, I would look at the A7V333. It has USB 2 and Firewire built-in and supports PC2700 RAM. Same price.

Thanks for the input. That board looks great. My only concern is since this is gonna be my first (with some help), is setting all the jumpers. Never dealt with them before, although the reviews state that the manual is quite detailed. The a7v266 can be set up jumperless for the most part. Still looking for more input. Thanks to all.... j.h.

No need to mess w/ the jumpers, it'll be all setup through the BIOS. The Asus manuals are very well written and will help you through this process. I'd suggest you read through it before doing anything, and while your waiting for your parts, read everything you can about it on the Asus website and from hardware site reviews. Good luck.
