ASUS Sabertooth x58 vs. ASUS P6X58D-E

I posted my motherboard situation on another forum, thread: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/294187-30-pegatron-ipmtb-express-motherboard-upgrade.

I've decided to purchase either the ASUS Sabertooth x58 or P6X58D-E. I've done a fair share of research and have read nearly every review I could find on both of them to figure out which is better, and more importantly to make sure what happened with the first motherboard (thread above) will not happen to this one.

The price is irrelevant because I'll be buying it over at Amazon (due to their great customer service, in case of faulty boards) rather than Newegg (shitty customer service/RMA process, broken CPU-socket pins) and after the $20MIR from ASUS, the P6X58D-E is something like $6-7 more than the Sabertooth x58 so really it makes no difference.

I understand the difference with the PCI-slots (P6X58D-E being superior), but the Sabertooth also has much stronger internals from what I have read so let me know what you guys think. It will be quite some time before I decide to add in an SLI-setup and the only other PCI-slot I need open is one for my Blackmagic Intensity Pro capture card, and of course my GTS 250 graphics card.

Also, any idea about 2 USB port hookups for the front-USB ports on my case because I use those along with my audio jacks on a daily basis. I believe the USB ports were removed for some reason, any way around this? I also have an eSATA port that I could connect since the P6X58D-E is lacking one. I just recently upgraded to 50/10mbit internet with Comcast so the better network card with the P6X58D-E makes sense.

Mobo Specs:

Sabertooth x58 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...G-_-13-131-641

P6X58D-E - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131641

I use my computer for gaming, audio/video/image editing, programming, and all of the other usual stuff. I need something reliable and with my current motherboard I'm dealing with daily (if not more frequent) BSODs/lockups, quite frankly it sucks. I'm planning on making a decision within a day or two since I've spent the week narrowing it down to what I'd like.

If anyone who owns either card (or someone who decided to/not to purchase one of them) or just someone who has insight on any of them, it would be highly appreciated. All I need to add after this is an additional hard drive or two and some RAM.

As far as overclocking goes, it is not my main concern but it's surely something to consider. I plan to overclock to some extent, but nothing crazy because I don't plan on liquid-cooling my PC.

My Specs:

Case - Antec 902 w/ additional side-fan
Mobo - Pegatron IPMTB-TK x58
Processor - Intel Core i7 920 (Stock)
GFX - NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 1GB
PSU - 460W
RAM - 9GB DDR3
HDD - 1TB 7200RPM

Thanks in advance, all replies are highly appreciated!

My choice is P6X58D-E. I have this board and it has been rock stable with 24GB ram and I7-950 overclocked to 4Ghz for about a year now. The biggest negative for the sabertooth for me is the LAN is on the PCI bus as opposed to PCI-E bus. Cannot understand why Asus would do this, could have been a design issue/constraint.

Thanks for the reply... I am personally leaning towards this board as well. It's nice to know 24GB of RAM is running smooth on it (what kind of RAM?). I haven't decided whether or not I will overclock and how far, what kind of CPU cooler do you have? Also the LAN issue is also a big one for me haha.
