Asus S96S Laptop LCD Issues

Hi all,

For about a month now, I've been having problems with my LCD panel. I can hook it up to an external monitor no problem, but when I turn on the laptop, I can expect a variety of things:

a) it might work beautifully (about 5% of the time);
b) everything will be weird colours (i.e. black will be bright RGB Green), everything will also appear a little out of alignment;
c) the screen will be black with a band of coloured stripes, kind of like how a busted LCD looks...
d) there will be 3 horizontal bands of grey shades.

Sometimes, when I turn it on, the display will appear fine, but if I leave and come back, it will look all mangy.

I bought and replaced the VGA cable to no avail.

I would really like to be able to fix the current panel, as it has proven that it is capable of working. Also, because I don't have a lot of money to replace the panel, and I have a friend who's handy with the solder.

Any help, or points in the right direction, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

i dont understand what a vga cable would do to fix it. unless you are using wrong terminology. vga connects to the external monitor.. which according to you works fine when you connect it that way. problem might be inside the laptop. maybe a loose cable thats connected to the lcd panel
