asus s96j went dead?

I was watching a show on my s96j laptop, and then the screen suddenly went dead(black screen). Right now the power led is still green, meaning the notebook is on, but i cant shut it down manually with the power button. It does not respond if i turn caps lock on, usually the light in the status bar go on. Did it died after just ~1week of light usage? :\

well the computer is still on but screen is dead, how do i turn off the computer if the power button does not work, just take the battery out, but it can crash the windows up

Usually, you would hold the power button and it powers down on its own (without shutting down Windows).

Otherwise, you could go the battery pull out route.

holding down does not do anything, I guess I will take battery out and see if the screen works when i replace it

I pulled the battery out, and replaced it back in and the laptop works again. Anyway, it should not do that, what is the reason did it happen?

Can't tell you why it did that. You could try looking in the Windows Event Viewer to see if there were any errors that occurred.

Did the sound keep playing when the screen went blank? I've had it on my W3J that sometimes if the lid is up and the screen turns off, the only way to turn the screen back on is to close the lid and open it again.
