I ordered one of these when they came out early this week.
This is a 15.4" WXGA (1280×800 widescreen 16:10) Core Duo with the Radeon X1600 mobile GPU. It also includes a built-in camera.
The exciting thing for DIY desktop builders is that this specific model as opposed to the Z96J which will be out in a month, is that this one was ordained by Intel and adheres to the CBB architecture. So everything outside of the MB can be easily swapped.....including the optical drives, screen, hard drives, etc. Intel even has a matrix on their website that shows you which components are guaranteed compatible.
Very reasonably priced, IMO too. You can get one BTO by 1toppc.com (the only site building them right now) with crazy specs like a 100GB 7200 rpm drive and T2400 processor and 2GB memory and DVD-RW and wireless for $1400.
The X1600 gets about 4000 in 3DMark05 and benchmarks have it running BF2 at HQ at 10x7 4xAA 8xAF at 50FPS and it draws much less power than something like a 7800Go and probably runs cooler.
Even the chassis is nicely designed with the vent facing the rear and all the connections on the right side. It's not nearly as gorgeous as some of the other Asus notebooks, but it's better than average IMO.
I'll post again with more details once I pick mine up tonight and get it assembled and start testing.
