I just purchased an Asus RT-N56U router and am trying to set it up as a repeater (bridge mode via WDS). When going through the setup ( wireless>WDS tabs, I noticed this in the menu -" Note:The function only support [Open System/NONE, Open System/WEP] security authentication method." .
Does this refer to the connection to the client devices connected to it or the connection to the host router ?

Is the situation the same using Pavadan Firmware ?

Either way, I don't like the security situation (want WPA2-AES everywhere) so maybe it will have to become l become the new host (primary router/access point) in my network setup .

-Thanks

If Padavan supports WPA2 with WDS then it should work, otherwise you would be better off returning that router and getting a router that either supports WPA2 for WDS or either DD-WRT or Tomato firmware. I have returned a router for that exact reason myself.

Both routers and all clients, which compromises your entire network.
