does anybody have an ASUS rt-n56u and using it with a USB drive for NAS?

we are using it this way, and there is an undocumented setting for Maximum login users, which you can only set at 5 or below!

this means we can only have 5 users connecting to the USB storage at one time, via either FTP or the Network Neighbourhood!

does anyone know if there is a workaround? we bought this router to replace a current router, and separate NAS, but have more than 5 people that would connect at once!

i feel if there is no way around this, that ASUS are misleading us with the USB capabilities of this router?

I have this same router. Have you already tried the latest firmware 1.0.1.4? I don't think the "5 user limit" is actually an advertised feature, neither is the maximum user count. You are right that it is undocumented. Also, do realize that this is a consumer-grade router so you're not going to see features that would normally be available in costlier SMB or Enterprise variants.

I also assume that this "limit" would be easy to circumvent in the firmware since the code is based on Linux, so a "fix" should be easy for Asus to implement.
