Looking to get away from my Uverse 2 Wire gateway/router. Had been considering a Belkin Play N600 but posts in my previous thread dissuaded me from that route. Looking around the Asus seems to have great reviews and the N53 seems to fit my needs. I checked and it will run DD-Wrt
Had really wanted something with Gig connections but the more I thought about it I realized that there is little to be gained from the faster connection -- unless I'm mistaken. I have a large wired network -- 3 Directv HR2x units, several Roku2 wired boxes, audio equipment, TVs, phones, WD Live, Seagate media player and a handful of other items all wired into several switches throughout the house. None of these units support Gigabit. I also have a number of wireless units, laptops, ipad, printer, android phone so on. I do stream ripped Blu ray disks and that is about the most intense workout the network gets and with the Roku2's and the higher quality Netflix I'm doing much less of that. So, any point to a Gigabit router?
Looking at the Asus RT-N53 I've found it for about $50 which I think is a decent price. I'm open to other suggestions, but not willing to go to $100 The RT-N56 looks to be very similar but with Gigabit support. looks like reburbs are in the $80 range. Anything else I should consider?
