Hi,

I first got a Gainward 2080ti Phoenix, but exchanged it for an Asus Rog Strix 2080 ti oc, because of coil whine. Unfortunately, the Rog Strix also has buzzing during gaming, even sometimes soft buzzing when idle, which can be heard in a quiet room.

IMO the Rog Strix fans' sound profile is more annoying than Gainward. Rog Strix has a rotor engine hum when the fans run above 28-29% speed. Also, above 48-49% speed the fans produce a defined pitch/resonnance, which is more annoying than the unpitched wind noise from my previous Gainward card. Using 25% speed or lower, one of the fans turns constantly on and off, creating a very annoying sound (making the 0rpm mode useless).

Is this fan operation normal for a Rog Strix 2080 ti card? I have a silent-running PC, so I need a fairly quiet graphics card.

It would be great to hear from other Asus Rog Strix 2080ti owners here. Are my experiences typical for this model, or did I receive a bad card?

Thanks!

This can be discussed in either one of your other recent
RTX 2080ti coil whine threads.
