I am considering buying the ASUS ROG G750 G750JS-NH71 with a 870m (3gb) for $1100 but with recent benchmarks coming out on the 965m, their performance is very similar but power consumption and heat is quite a bit better.

Right now the pickings are slim but the Sager NP8670 with a 965m can be had for around $1200 but only comes with 8gb's ram. So i'd have to spend another $100 to bring it up to 16gb's.

The only thing i'm apprehensive about with the Asus is some people saying that the matte screen is "grainy" especially on white backgrounds. Since i intend to use this computer about 50% for gaming and the other 50% general usage, i may have an issue with the screen. However, i can replace it with the glossy version for under $100 IF it becomes an issue.

I need to make a quick decision as the deal for the Asus probably won't last much longer. I appreciate any feedback!

Brief Asus Specs:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M 3GB
Intel Core i7 4710HQ (2.50GHz)
16GB Memory 1TB HDD
17.3" 1920 x 1080

Is there any particular reason you want 16GB of ram? 8gb should be fine for gaming, and you can always replace / add ram later.

I suppose just because of what happen with my ram situation on my current laptop. Ordered it with 2gb's of ram then DDR3 came out but DDR2 was still abundant and decently priced and i upgraded to 4gb's, couple years later when i wanted to upgrade to 8gb's, DDR2 is all but obsolete and astronomically expensive (comparatively).

I'd rather pay an extra $60-$80 now than 2 or 3 times that in the future.

Regardless, after reading a few reviews on the Asus and it's mediocre screen quality, extreme bulkiness & weight, amongst a few other nitpicks, i decided to cancel my order.

I now have my sights set on a Sager NP8671 (Clevo P670SE) with a 970m for $1260.
