Asus RMA question about HSF bracket

I'm sending in a P4P800 Dlx for RMA, am I suppose to remove the HSF bracket (square black plastic mounted to mobo) or leave it on?

If you send it, you probably won't get it back. They'll check your board, determine its defective and send a refurb. Keep the bracket.

I found some instructions on how to remove it at Thermalright, but I tried pushing those pins out, and I can't, and I don't want to physically damage the board, then I can't RMA it. So I guess if they mean that bracket has to come off, they can keep it. I'm just going to sell the mobo they send me anyway. Whoever buys it can get a bracket, or use a cooler that doesn't require that bracket. I REALLY hate those plastic pin mechanisms. I remember I had a Pentium mobo that had one of those as a standoff. What a PITA to take it out.

I'd say just leave it in. That's considered an integral part of the motherboard (like the chipset cooler) and your replacement should have one.

It's very easy to take off though. push the white pin from the back of the board w/ maybe a hard plastic object, then the rest is easy. However, don't worry about it because if they send you a replacement it will have the bracket.
