Im having trouble trying to get the sound to work on an Asus II Rampage Gene. I am using the onboard sound with analog output (Tried optical as well) to a 5.1 z5500. Tried every input option on the speaker console and tried all the effect settings.. I can test it in the sound manager and get sound from all the speakers properly except the front right.. I can hit the test button on the remote and all the speakers work fine, so connection isnt to blame. I tried sweeping all the drivers, but on restart W7 reinstalls them. Please help it sucks to have a good 5.1 system and only hear part of it.

Its showing device as soundmax. I installed that driver and software pack after driver sweeper pulled win7 defaults. Same effect. Tried another possibility in a realtek driver with creative software that was a total fail. So I got a sbxfi titanium hd and its a million times better. Thanks for the help.though.

The Rampage II's "onboard" sound is indeed not a Creative chip. It's an Analog Devices AD2000, which is in fact a rebranded AD1988B. The latest drivers are going to be on Asus's site, though you can always try some generic AD1988B drivers if you can get your hands on some.

Given that you've already tried multiple drivers though, I suspect your problem is hardware based.
