Asus Rampage II Extreme - Using the black PCI-E 1x Slot!

So it's a great board with a big flaw, the black PCI-E 1x slot will only accomodate the included sound card due to northbridge heatsink interference. Anything longer will not fit. Solution..

I removed five pins from the heatsink, just enough to fit my PCI-E X-Fi Fatal1ty card. Gently bend them up and down one at a time and they pop off at the base. I had the option to use the white PCI-E slot, which would kill any Tri-Sli plans:
