Asus Rampage Formula x48

Rampage Formula

I can pick up a rampage formula for roughly 200 dollars. I'm currently running the Asus p5k. My main concern and I know this is probably not the right mindset is "Future" proofing for a bit.

I made the mistake of cheaping out on my mobo and realizing that I actually wanted some more features. Overclocking is not a huge priority.

Is there any reason besides price NOT to get the Rampage Formula? It seems to be able to handle my standard DDR-2 800 and the X58's probably will take 2 years to get into my price range w/ nahelem.

Theoretically The Rampage Formula (an eventual switch from the e8400 to the Quad) will get me through to 2 years or so?

Gaming is my priority and with the PCI slots on this I don't fear they will be saturated in the next year or two.

Edited for Clarity: Sorry John

I'm not sure exactly what you're saying is wrong with your current motherboard?

You can't get past 400fsb?
That p35 supports DDR2-1066 so I'm not sure what's wrong there?

I understand that you want crossfire support but I don't under the other two things?

Answered my own question.

I can actually afford a Asus Rampage x48. Problem solved.
