So long story short, this has been an issue for long time and I have been ignoring it since it only happens rarely but I've recently been playing CIV V a lot and time to time, my GPU crashed and got an error.

Display driver AMD has stopped responding and has recovered

Needless to say, this was pretty annoying. I've been getting this error quite a few times whilst playing CIV V and blue screens telling me there's an issue with drivers, sometimes this bluescreen happens at the most random of times. My computer specs are:

Operating System
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1
CPU
AMD FX-6300
Vishera 32nm Technology
RAM
16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 669MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard
Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. GA-78LMT-USB3 (Socket M2)
PSU
Corsair Builder Series CX 500
Graphics (Duel Monitors):
1950W (1366x768@60Hz)
1950W (1366x768@60Hz)
2048MB ATI ASUS R7 250X Series (ASUStek Computer Inc)
HDD/SDD
Primary: 111GB KINGSTON SV300S37A120G ATA Device (SSD)
Storage: 1863GB Seagate ST2000DM001-9YN164 ATA Device (SATA)
Optical Drives:
ATAPI iHAS122 E ATA Device
Audio: AMD High Definition Audio Device

Solutions I've tried so far.
- Updating Windows
- Updating Drivers
- Clean reinstall
- Playing CIV V in a window mode
- Adjusting visual effects on Window
- MS Fix it for GPU (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2665946)

The error logs from Bluescreen.

nice details - but what drivers have you tried? does it happen just in Civ 5 or in other games? any OC?

have you tried another OS other than win 7?

Funny enough, I tried Window 10 (And I like it) But I had to rollback to Window 7 due to these errors, I'm not sure the exact details but at the time, my computer went to Bluescreen and the only solution to fix it to go back the previous OS. It's unfortunate but I've decided to wait for Win 10 to sharpen itself from bugs and necessary updates.

And yes, this does occurs on other games. Regarding the drivers, I have a driver disc for GPU, which I've used to reinstall after cleaning up the driver updates, I've learned that updating your GPU driver can be troubling due to possible bugs.

I'm not sure exactly the drivers I've used, only driver disc and the software developed by AMD to find the right driver and updating it for me. (Link: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download)

Thanks.

Possibly bad video card as its 250; the 15.7.1s should work with it.

when you upgraded to win 10; did you reinstall the video drivers cleanly? also if you put win 7 and use 15.7.1s or 15.7s what happens?

Not straight afterwards, when the bluescreen strikes and so decided to reinstall it and that didn't work, which led me to rollback. As for 15.7.1, I did try update the driver but same results.

Also, when you said it's 250, does this GPU has a known history of problems?
