Hello,

does anyone have experience using the ASUS PIKE 1078 hardware RAID controller? I'm inexoerienced with LSI's 1078 chip, and I can't seem to find data regarding it's power draw. This system build is as follows:

ASUS Z8PE-D18(ASMB4-IKVM) dual-LGA-1366 system board
ASUS PIKE 1078 (Areca card SMOKED the previous workstation's MB)
HEC 98 98R9BB Case from previous workstation
Two Xeon X5590 3.33GHz (replacing four cooked Shanghais!!!)
72GB WINTEK 1333 DDR3
Sapphire RADEON 5970 (Areca card fried the old GTX 280s)
Canopus editing card from previous workstation
HT Omega Claro Sound Card
Eight WD 2TB RE4s, One Intel 160GB G2,One Intel 80GB G1 and
One 1TB Colossus, Three LD BR Burners
Three HP 30" from previous Build (And yes I have an overpriced DP active repeater for the 3rd 30")
...I have yet to order a PSU

I'm curious to know power draw, and approximate speeds running the RE4s in RAID-6.

Thank You,
Daimon Constantine

I won't do this again (Bump my own post) - Is there anyone one here who has experience with LSI hardware RAID controllers - specifically the AsusTek PIKE XX78 chips?. I've seen "Rubycon" post the glory's of Areca controllers, while I've had one (of five) blow-up in my face (four-running). I could use a bit of advice.
