hi guys i have tried visiting the asus site and forum for some support but its easy to say they are absolutely useless.

any ways i have recently purchased the above motherboard and have got a i5 2500k running on it, now the problem that i have is when bios comes up the hardware monitor says that my cpu is starting at 48 degrees celcius and reaches about 60 degrees celcius, AND THIS IS JUST IN BIOS.

now i have used third party application and they all give my Core 0,1,2 and 3 an average temperiture of 36-40 degrees celcius which rises to about 55 degrees under load, which is normal im assuming.

im more concerned as to why bios is showing such a high temperature? makes me question whether i have my heatsink properly fitted?

thank you :)

Have you updated the BIOS? I just built my system with this board yesterday and the temp monitor in the BIOS was showing insane readings (in the 50s) while CoreTemp and other software was more reasonable (high 20s/low 30s). I updated the BIOS to the latest version and now it is reading correctly.

no actually i havent, im kind of hesitant, because besides the false readings there doesnt seem to be anything else wrong with the board, and due to bad experienced dealing with bios updates before doesnt help lol. so do you think that the readings CPUID HARDWARE MONITOR gives is actually correct?

also i have noticed something saying " CPUTIN " which pretty much stays on 60 degrees the entire time, is that something i should be worried about?

Personally, I'd update the BIOS. You can do it from Windows and it works very well. There was an update released last week and that's the one I installed last night when I built my system and noticed the weird readings. I had also read about others having this issue a few weeks ago when researching the board so I knew a BIOS update would likely help.

I don't know what that is. FWIW, I am stress testing my i7-2600K at 4.4 Ghz @ 1.3 V now and my core temps are ranging from the mid 70s into the low 80s. At idle, they're in the low 30s.
