hey guys,

are the P8P67 and P8P67 Pro the same as far as crossfire support is concerned? i know that the pro version has 2 PCIE 2.0 slots that can run at x8 each but the P8P67 has only one PCIE 2.0 slot that runs at x16 and the black one runs at x4 mode.

I am not sure if crossfire performance will be the same on both of these boards. I don't plan on using SLI because i have always used ati cards.

On a high-end dual card setup, PCI-e 2.0 x4 is not going to supply enough bandwidth on the second card. Even x8 is not enough for the highest end cards per some benchmarks (hence the existence of multi x16 slots on high-end platforms like X58). Get the Pro if you are going to do CF.

PCI-e 3.0 will fix this as it doubles bandwidth at each level. Unfortunately you will have to wait for Panther Point (Z77 etc) which is March 2012.

I guess the biggest questions would be what's ya gonna crossfire and what resolution do you plan on playing at. Single monitor? Multi-monitor? Looking at the following 2 links as well as a couple of others it doesn't look like performance difference is earth shattering to me.

On another note if your just trying to save the $'s you could always take a look at the P8P67-M Pro board. It's m-atx but does have 8x/8x crossfire support along with another 4x slot available. Not sure if it'll fit your needs you'd have to decide for yourself :D
