Asus P8P67 supported RAM

Picking up a new board to go with an I7 2600K and decided on the 3.1 rev of the Asus P8P67. I wanted to pick up a 2x4GB set of supported ram to go with it, but checking out the qualified vendor part list on Asus' site, in the 1600 freq. list there is like one supported 2x4GB set, and in the 1333 list it's like two. There are a lot of supported 4x2GB sets, but those are about twice the price, and why use the extra slots if you don't have to? I'm curious as to why so few 2x4GB sets are supported. Is this common across socket 1155 boards? Should I just go with a 2x4GB set that is not on the list? Should I buy a different motherboard?

Awesome. Thanks for the specific recommendation. I was considering a Z68 board, but all I could see different was the video support and the Intel ssd caching technology. Is there any other reason I should be looking at that chipset instead of P67?

Well, the SSD caching would be enough reason for me if I hadn't already had a 120gb for OS and apps. The P8Z68 Deluxe doesn't have the video ports, so not a consideration for me. The P67 is a good board. I'll be putting together another system with it for a family member ..

Ok, cool, thanks. I agree that the SSD caching is interesting, but I haven't been able to talk myself into one yet. Waiting for the price/GB to come down... some day.
