i remember on my old asrock h55m motherboard, when i had a pcie video card in the system the internal graphics stayed on and running.

i want this because my living room theater now consists of 3 screens.

whats weird, is when i select in bios to run just the internal graphics, that works fine. when i select to work with ipgu first and pcie secondary, the internal graphics stay on but my 4870 does not show up in device manager.

when i select it to run the pcie video fist and igpu as secondary, my 4870 works just fine but the internal graphics do not show up in device manager.

its weird, and im not sure if im doing something wrong or what. another weird thing is this motherboard is flashed with bios 1304 while the latest on asus website shows 1303... so i cant even flash the bios because all i can find is an older version.

if i cant get this working ill just put back in my $15 8400gs pci card. scary as it is to run a ati card with a nvidia as a secondary, it seems to work perfectly. i would really like to save the extra parts and pci slot though.

on par with history, i fix the problem right after i post the question.

select iGPU+PEG mode (dual video), and disable the memory remap feature. if you do not disable memory remap, it doesnt work (at least on mine).

thanks everyone. i now have a 42" flatscreen tv on the wall, with a pair of HP 19" MVA panels hanging above it. display fusion is doing the customization... nice program.
