What's the difference between the P6X58D and the P6X58D-E motherboards? The latter is $60 less, and my research indicates that it only lacks a second LAN controller but counters with better voltage regulation. Is that it? If so, I may be able to knock sixty bucks off my i7 upgrade.

A couple more things (none of them deal breakers)...

P6X58D - E doesn't have the "reset" button, the little extra fan for spot cooling, but it DOES have a better SATA III controller, allowing RAID for SATA III drives (unlike the Premium, which will only do RAID with SATA II).

Also, I heard something about no flash memory on the "E" variant - might have something to do with the Premium's ability to surf web, skype, etc without booting into Windows.

Wait. What? The P6X58D-E actually has better RAID support for SATA3? I don't see anything that would make me want to go with the more expensive Premium model. The -E is unlikely to catch fire without that extra fan am I right? :p

I saw a review of the Premium here http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/asus_p6x58d_premium/3.htm and it says "The board is fully RAID compatible, which puts some very exciting 6.0Gb/s SSD configurations in mind", is that just a mistake on their part? I've seen both on online stores and both have mentioned SATA2 RAID but neither have said anything about SATA3.

Yeah, the P6X58D - E is the better deal, and hardly anybody uses that extra fan anyways. And yes, the more expensive board will NOT do SATA 6.0 Gb/s RAID.

Go figure.
