Hi all,

My brand new Asus P6T is not remembering its bios settings if I completely disconnect it from power.

If I simply turn my computer off and back on it's ok, no problem.

But if I turn my power supply off or disconnect the power cable, the next time I power on the computer the bios has reset to default settings.

Things I've tried:

1. Updated the BIOS to latest version 603
2. Made sure the reset cmos jumper is in the right position.
3. Reset the bios using the cmos jumper and then put it back in correct position (pins 1-2).
4. Tried a different CMOS battery I know works

I read in the P6T manual there is a C.P.R function, where if your system fails to start due to overclocking, the mobo will automatically reset to default values once you have disconnected the power and then turned it back on. Surely this should only happen after failure to boot from overclocking though!? I am not overclocking yet. It resets even from very simple modifications.

I've posted this on the Asus forums and the two replies so far have the exact same problem and tried what I have - new cmos battery etc - one mentioned he's seen others with the problem. I'd like to get some more feedback from P6T owners (Just vanilla P6T please, no P6T Deluxe owners as that is a different board ).

To properly test, you need to disconnect the mobo from power until the motherboard lights switch off. 20 seconds should do it. Power back on and see if your bios has reset to default. To save your bios settings so you can easily reload them, go to the "ASUS O.C. Profile" section under the Tools menu and save your settings to a profile.

Thanks guys.

Yep, I also have this problem. When I turned off the power supply switch it resets to factory defaults. I haven't tried the OC Profiles yet...will these save when the bios gets wiped? Took me a while to notice this since my pc is always on but I definitely have the same issue.

Some more developments on this. With more testing and some other people contributing, it seems the P6T could have a specific problem with the Inno3D GTX 275 video card http://vip.asus.com/forum/view...SLanguage=en-us&page=2

I'm working through this with Asus support now so we'll see what they say.

If anyone with this problem can list their make/model of PSU and video card that would be great.
