Comparing these 3 ASUS boards and I'm going crazy figuring out what I'm paying almost $100 for when going from the SE to the Deluxe. I understand things such as 1 to 2 RAID and LAN controllers and some have more external ports than others, but what core differences make these boards stand apart from one another?

This could be a really long post but I'll try and keep it short.

The original P6T Deluxe had an onboard SAS controller which greatly added to the price.

The dropped the SAS controller in the P6T Deluxe V2 but also added high quality (arguably) audio CODEC from Realtek in the P6T Deluxe to ADI in the P6T Deluxe V2.

The ASUS P6T SE is an even further chopped down P6T which does not support SLI (just Crossfire) among other possible featurers.

BTW you can still buy a P6T with the SAS controller its called the P6T WS.

Search for threads on this board or even check out articles on other websites likes Toms Hardware there are plenty of them.

So if I'm not using RAID or SLI there's not point to get the deluxe correct? Just stick with the P6T SE? Anything about the deluxe like better cooling or power efficiency that would make it worth my money?

Yeah if your trying to keep costs at a minimum but still run an X58 Core i7 board the P6T Deluxe SE is the way to go.

Its nearly $100 cheaper than either Deluxe version and it does support RAID via the ICH10R.

It does not have an onboard SAS controller but that is for extremely expensive high end server hard drives.

You might even be able to flash the BIOS to a P6T Deluxe and enable SLI!

Fundamentally the hardware is the same!

I think Deluxe=Sucker born every minute. However, I am a very cheap penny pincher. If you dont use all those extra bits then it is not worth it. Sometimes the Deluxe version has some ports not available you may want like Fire Wire or something like that. However, if you doubt you will ever need that then why pay for it.
