I just build my system last night. The system will not POST. I get the following result with everything plugged in and just the processor plugged in:

Problem: turn system on, I get no video, all fans are running, HDD get power. I get 1 long beep and 2 short beeps. The beeps loop until I power down the system.

This occurs even when I take everything out except the processor. When I remove the processor and power on, I get nothing. I did not plug the video adapter in to verify if I could see the system POST (too early in the mornign for that test).

Components:
Core 2 Duo - e6300
Asus P5W DH Deluxe
2x2GB Samsung ECC memory
Seasonic S12 550W PSU
nVidia FX3500 video
Seagate 7200.10 320GB SATA drive

BIOS Chip Details (I am not sure what level it is at and not sure how to find it without POSTing):
439V080FAPZ
4518819002
604LDFA

The only thing that may point to BIOS is the bottom line printed on the chip. If that 604LDFA represents BIOS 0604, then it is a down-level BIOS issue.

Thank you for any assistance.

Your BIOS version should be fine to OST with conroe chips. I'll toss out some questions/suggestions:

- PSU: both the 20+4-pin main and 4-pin 12v connectors are attached?
- You NEED CPU/MEM/VID installed in order to POST.
- Try CPU, single stick of MEM, and VID.
- Setup the mobo and components outside of the case and try powering-up. (mobo might be shorted in the case)

Thanks for the info. You recommended some things I didn't know I could try (single DIMM).

1. Both PSU connectors are plugged in.
2. I know I need them all, but I tried to deduce what was causing the problem.
3. I will try the CPU/1 DIMM/Vid and see what happens later today.
4. If 3 fails, I will try it outside the case.
