I got my whole new system up and running like a charm except the cd rom.. At first i couldnt even get the computer to recognize it.. and now in bios is recognizes it but as soon as i get to windows and put a cd in it pretty much locks up the computer, ive waited for a few minutes and nothing happens. After i press eject the computer returns to normal.. I am using the blue port with the CD rom cable.. my dvd rom is a pioneer dvr-108. Any tips or help would be appreciated.

The drive works and the cable as well i believe, i tried 2 cables both with the exact same result. I looked online for the drivers but cant find them..

I tried installing those chipset drivers and i have no lock. Where can i buy a 80 wire ide cable locally and what does one look like? Im pretty sure these are 80 wire cables that asus provides you with their mobo.

Ok i tried setting it to AHCI under the IDE properties and that gave me the BSOD then after that i went into the onboard devices and changed JMicron to AHCI and now it boots but no cd rom.

i grabbed my friends CD rom, its runs perfectly, and when i put mine as a slave it also worked like a charm.. Now when i put mine by itself as the master it doesnt want to work. Windows finds it and all that good stuff but once a cd is in there, windows locks up until i eject then everything goes back to normal.
