On ASUS Forums, there have been several reports of problems using PCI cards on this motherboard when using Vista (32-bit). The PCI bus effectively disappears, nothing is detected or found.

Vista reports the PCI resources as reserved (according to one user: "Memory for PCI is assigned, where the specified memory isn't available"). This problem is not exhibited with Windows XP or 2003 and all the same cards function normally.

ASUS first replied to a couple users that it was aware of the problem and planned a BIOS fix. Then within the last 48 hours, ASUS added this to the FAQ section for P5VDC-MX:
Q: Can P5VDC-MX support VISTA operating system?

A: Due to hardware limitation, we apologize that this motherboard is not capable of supporting Microsoft VISTA operating system.
WTF?

What possibly changed in Vista that conceivably could cause PCI devices to not function (not even detected) when this board supports Windows XP?

AH! I forgot, PCI Multi-Level Rebalance and Message Signaled Interrupts in Windows Vista.

But shouldn't this just be a BIOS rework? (Peter...help!)
