Asus P5QC & DDR3 or P5Q-E & DDR2?

I am looking to get a new processor, mobo, and RAM. I have windows xp pro 2002 32-bit and will be using the computer for gaming and surfing the internet. I have decided on the Intel E8400 but am having trouble with Mobo and RAM. My two choices so far (Im trying to stay under $175 for mobo and RAM) are Asus P5QC and OCZ3RPR13332GK memory or Asus P5Q-E and TWIN2X2048-8500C5D. The P5QC scares me because I've heard it has problems with a lot of RAM, and it seems to be discontinued (not on newegg or tigerdirect) while the rest of the P5Q series is still being made and sold. So I guess my main question is does anyone know if P5QC and OCZ3RPR13332GK will run at stock rated speeds without any trouble, and will DDR3 6-6-6-18 make a noticeable difference over DDR2 5-5-5-15, or is there any reason why I should choose one of these setups vs the other?
