Hey folks, I recently rebuilt my rig using all new stuff, except my leftover ram/HD

e7200
Asus P5Q
EVGA 8800gt
silverstone 500w
Antec 300

OLD HD: older IDE Maxtor 120gb
OLD RAM: 1 x 1 gig g.skill ddr2 667, 1 x 1 gig kingston 667

I install windows, mobo drivers, run first round of windows updates, reboot and get a "invalid or damaged bootable partition".

I figure my HD is shot, so I pick up a new seagate sata 250g. Run the same deal, same error

I figure one of two things is up

1) Bad drivers. Is this a known problem? Where can I find working ones?

2) Mobo needs RMA'd

If its drivers then thats easy. Go to the manufactures web page and download new ones. If that doesn't help then there may be an issue with teh board but i doubt it. Since your able to install windows and get to the poaint of downlaoding updates i doubt its the board. Are you able to get windows and drivers instlled and restart the PC before updates? Be sure to only get the updates you need. Don't try to go strait for SP3 (Asuming your using XP). There have been some reports of system problems after installing SP3.

Yes, I was using XP.

I decided to try with my copy of Vista. I install, install drivers from Asus website, vid drivers, and then I go to install WoW (using blizz CD's) and get this error

An error was detected while verifying the contents of the file "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data\sound.MPQ". There may be a problem with your system, or with the drive at C:\. You can attempt to install again. If this problem persists, please contact Blizzard Technical Support.

So I try to install with their downloaded installer, and

The installer was unable to read the file "C:\Documents and Settings\Ed\Desktop\WoW-2.0.0-enUS-Installer\Installer Tome.mpq". This error may be caused by problems with the media or drive at C:\--for example, a scratched or dirty CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, hard drive corruption, or a networking problem while downloading the installer. (The data being read was "MPQs-1\unconditional\Data#common.MPQ\Sound\Ambience\WMOAmbience\AhnQirajInterirorFireFlyRoom.wav_", and the error code was 4.) If this problem persists, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (Converter::Load)

I guess this should be moved to game forum maybe? I think I've gotten rid of all the possibilities hardware/driver wise

EDIT
Apparently it wasn't wanting to install because of my ram setup, although it had been working in the past. I took the kingston stick out and had no problems. Now I just gotta pick up some matching ram...
