I am looking to build a new system using one of the Asus P5Q boards (P5Q, P5Q Pro, or P5Q-E) but before I purchase the board, I was wondering if anyone has any issues with the layout of the board and a HD 4850 video card.

I know the standard version of the board only have one x16 slot. I am possibly thinking of running CF in a few months down the road.

Any information would be helpful, thanks!

Helped my friend build a box with P5Q Deluxe the other week with a GTX 260 card (10.5 inches in length). It blocked off 2 SATA ports (well, maybe you could use them with a 90deg cable, but it would be a huge pain in the ass). No idea on multi cards, sorry.

You shouldn't have any problems with a Pro and a 4850 if you use the first PCIe slot. Here's my setup (it's a 4870, which is probably slightly longer than a 4850). Six of the eight SATA slots are being used.

Do keep in mind that the P5Q vanilla and the P5Q-E both have a different slot layout from the Pro.

Only 1 SATA port is affected on P5Q-E. In the manual, Asus acknowledges the issue, however, they do supply a couple of 90 degree sata cables. It does work fine with a 4850 but does touch the card and makes it flex just a tiny bit but causes no problems.

I only use 4 sata ports and the affected port is not one of them, but it will work.
