Asus P5Q Pro backplate?

Greetings,

I have an Asus P5Q Pro, but I installed it months ago. I went through the pain of push-pin and I seem to recall a sizable plate below the CPU. I am going to purchase a bolt-on cooler that does not utilize push-pins, since it is one of the most evil technologies ever devised and a pain to install (It took me about 30 minutes before the thing finally was in place).

BUT, I am not sure IF I am recalling correctly about the backplate. I do not want to unmount my entire motherboard and look at it (take all of the guts out to get to it). Does anyone recall off the top of their heads if the ASUS P5Q Pro ships with the necessary backplate and will not require the purchase of an additional accessory for the purpose of mounting when I get a new heatsink / fan?

Thanks

Nope there is no backplate that ships with the P5Q Pro. AFAIK if a cooler doesn't have push-pin as the default installation method, it will include the proper backplate for skt775.

He is correct. You can also buy a backplate and mod any cooler by cutting off the crappy push-pins.

I run a modded OEM Intel Copper Quad Core cooler, bolted to my e5200. Love that set-up, and the coolers are all over eBay.

Thanks for saving me from exploratory surgery, snagged a cooler that included a backplate.

Heh, I wish it came with a backplate. Would have saved me the trouble of having to buy a bolt-thru kit for my S1283.
