ASUS P5Q + Lian Li PC-B25B

Hi, my ASUS P5Q manual says the onboard 3 case fans connectors (PWR FAN and CHA FAN1/2) support 350mA-2000mA 12V fans. My Lian Li PC-B25B case comes with 3 120 mm fans (2 intake, 1 exhaust) that are labeled 12V 0.27A.

My question is: since 0.27A is below the lower threshold mentioned in the mobo manual, do you think it's safe to connect the fans directly to the mobo, or shall I leave them as they come, i.e. connected to molex adapters, and daisy-chain plug them into the PSU?

Are you sure? 0.27 A = 2700 mA. Under normal use, the fans may not draw 0.27A however. Still something to check out. Perhaps others will provide clarification.

0.27 A = 270 mA, not 2700 😀

Would an extra 85 ma fry the fans? I doubt it, and fans are cheap. 🙂 If you daisy chain them, what's the serial value of the amperage they will pull? It's probably well within the limits of the PSU. Just guessing though.

I must be missing something here, as I don't think it will matter much either way, except for the clusterfuck of cables. 😉

This is just my opinion and I'm a lawyer. 😉 So sue me!

Oh well, cable "salad" (as the Germans say) is one thing, ability to control the fans is another. Anyway, I connected them all to the PSU, and it works fine. The case is pretty quiet so I don't really feel the need to control the fans.
