Asus P5Q Deluxe won't complete POST with USB HDDs attached

Initially though my second 1tb Seagate drive died (I only use it for game installs as don't trust it) so went out and bought a 320 WD Blue for the function. (Meh now I don't have to worry about the seagate , and the WD is just as fast)

Turns out for some reason the comp will get stuck on detecting drives if the USB HDDs are plugged in but only on warm boot. Cold boot or hard reset and it works fine. The HDD caddy is this one.

What could be the reason? Any one else having similar issues?

Asus forums point to BIOS later than 1406 as having issues when USB connected...

Maybe rollback to 1406?

I'm using the 1702 BIOS at the moment (Latest when I bought my q9550 2009-01-22)

Just looking at the fixes with it:
2. Fix display priority is not correct when plugs two PCIE VGA cards.
3. Enhance the compatibility with certain memory.

Those two things might affect me as I'm using 4*2gig of mem and have two 4870s. So I don't think I should downgrade (Seems like you have to use some app to do it anyways).
Seems there are lots of issues with the newer Bioses though, so won't be touching them either.

Hmm that doesn't leave much choice does it . Guess will just have to turn off the drives when doing warm reboots or just hit reset if I forget.
