I just picked up a asus p5nd2-sli and a 920 proc. The problem I have is the mother board only shows up as one proc . When you post and load into windows it only shows and from what I can tell is only using one core. Does any one else have this board and this proc? If so does it show up as two cores?

Thanks

The bios version that came with the board was 0401 which is what asus site says I needed. I loaded winxp and noticed that it wasnt running daul core I then did an update of the bios to the 0501 which is the most recent bios. But still I am running single core.

Make sure ACPI is enabled in the BIOS, it's required for it to recognize it as a dual core.

Okay I checked and the ACPI is enabled and will not even let me change it to disabled. Do you have any more Ideas?

Hmm, maybe try re-seating the CPU? I had to do that once when my 830 wasn't having it's second core detected. Other than that, nothing else i can think of at the moment.

Here is an update I finally got off the phone with asus tech and found out that they have a bios issue. Surprise. My case is now at the Eng level. I hope to have a new bios soon that will fix the problem.

thanks for all the help and the ideas.

Awsome. Give is an update once it's working. We are curious to see how well the 920 will OC on that board. I have mine at 3.7ghz on an Asus P5LD2-VM, but it won't let me set the FSB higher than 265mhz.

Okay so asus is trying to screw me check out the cpu page now http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpus...t.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P5ND2-SLI

Do you see somthing different? Yep they changed their page after my problem and now they don't support the 920 in daul core mode. What a bunch of crap! Tech support just said sorry you should have checked the page before you bought the proc. I am going to talk to the tech manager and see what he can do since I found the problem in the first place. The nice thing is I have a copy of the cpu page on tuesday before the changed it and I can use that as proof. I don't know what they will do for me if anything. I am also going to submit this to maximumpc to the dog to see what they can do as well.

So don't but this board and a 920 it won't work!

Sadly the exact same thing happened to me. When I ordered the board I triple checked that support site to make sure the processor was supported. It never mentioned single core only use.

It would have been nice if someone there would have oh TESTED THE PARTICULAR BOARD CHIP COMBO BEFORE ACTUALLY MAKING THEIR COMPATIBILITY LIST? Seriously this kind of incompetence is simply astoudning. And to add insult to injury they play it off as if it's our fault for not reading the support page, when we did and they clearly switched it on us after the fact.

Sorry for the caps but I'm irritated.

The Gigabyte 8N-SLI supports both cores on the 920, but not having any luck overclocking past ~220mhz FSB, the same chip is running at 245mhz FSB on my Asus P5P800-SE, while my 3.2ghz P4 is running at 240mhz FSB on the 8N-SLI..
