ASUS P5N32-E SLI and setting Vcore

I don't know what the deal is, but now it seems that if I try to set the voltage manually for vcore in the bios, the value never really changes. I'm version 0405.

Example:

The AI Mode is set to Auto. In this case, if I set Vcore manually, reboot and then go to the hardware monitor screen it shows a value about .02 below what I set it at. This happens for any value I enter in the BIOS - seems reasonable.

However, if I set the AI Mode to Manual, meaning I want to set the FSB and memory speed manually, changing the Vcore value in the bios never seems to have an affect. No matter what number I enter, I always see 1.37 in the hardware monitor section.

Any ideas??

Did you figure this one out? I am having the same issues. Bios Vcore setting is 1.475 but harware monitor and asus probe say 1.39? I hope its just the monitoring thats incorrect.

I'm not sure if the monitoring is incorrect. It always reads 1.37 and the CPU idle temp is always the same. With BIOS 0405, I was unable to overclock to 3.6 GHz.

So I tried rolling back the BIOS to 0302, and with that the voltage values would change as I would expect, aside from the fact that the monitoring section always gave a value about .1 below what I entered in the BIOS. And, with 0302, I didn't have any problems overclocking to 3.6 and running stable.

The other concern I have about the BIOS is what it reads out for temp. If I run CoreTemp, it usually gives me a value about 10C higher than what the BIOS or Asus Probe gives.

My Vcore is still acting strange. I have my voltage in bios set at 1.5V but asus probe only shows 1.4. Vdroop of 0.1V??? Voltage in the bios sticks. But I cant even get to 3.1ghz. When I get close system wont even post. But it runs at 3.0 just fine. Ran Super PI 32M and it looked good. I think I can get more out of the processor if I could get more voltage. This was with both the 0302 and 0405 bios. Should I just keep upping the voltage in the Bios? Any advice please...

What do you have "AI mode" set to - Auto or Manual?

What do you have CPU VTT voltage set to?

My mode is set to Manual. Yet, I have the same issue with the Vcore never diplaying what I set it at. I can't get it to OC past 3 GHZ. When I up the FSB past 1332, I get pop ups in Windows that tells me the "CPU Parameter is set to unreasonable value = 69".

I got that too from the Asus AI utility. Set it up so that it doesn't auto-start. I don't use the thing anyway.

As for CPU VTT. See this thread.

So, those darn pop ups are simply from the AI Booster? Geez. I sure hope it's that easy. It went into Windows at 3.2 GHZ just fine. I thought those pop ups were an issue with my OC job.

Thank for the thread 3NF. What do you have your VTT set at? Should I change it or leave it on auto? BTW I appreciate all your help with this.

I think it is at 1.36? I don't remember off the top of my head, but I can check when I get home tonight. I'll post what all my voltages are set at, and what the monitor screen actually says it is.

the p5n32-e board has a notorious vcore undervoltage and horrible vdroop.

it's a known complaint. Dunno if Asus is addressing it, but it's a common problem.

I have the same issue with bios 0405, cant get higher than 3.0ghz with my E6400, i downgrade the bios to 0302 and i hit 3.3 with no problem with 1.4 Volts VCORE
