I heard that "CORE 2 Dave" was an expert on this MOBO from the official ASUS forum but I have followed his tips on here and still cannot get this board to be truly stable.
Specs as follows,
C2D E8400 @ stock 3.0Ghz (V-core manually set to 2.225 Volts as per max on the box)
2 x 1 gig of OCZ platinum Rev 2 (set at 4-4-4-15 2T "unlinked" and 2.085Volts)
Corsair HX520 PSU
8600 GT 256MB GFX
XP pro 32 bit. SP3 beta
Bios version 0803
Hitachi 160 gig SATAII boot drive (not in a RAID config)
Wireless LAN PCI card.
Problem:-
Been running this new build for about 3 weeks.
This PC has passed one pass of Memtest with no issues.
I briefly ran Orthos for about 15mins with no issues. (will test longer)
I have ran PCMark05 aswell.
But I get random re-starts which could happen at the XP splash screen or just during general office use. Not every day either, just perhaps every other day.
I started off with a standard 450W PSU but have since changed to the Corsair with no difference.
I also had the issues when i was on XP SP2 before I added SP3 beta.
The only manual settings made are to the V-core which was quite high on auto and the RAM timings as above including being "Unlinked"
That "unofficial thread on this board is huge"
Can someone advise me please????
Is it the E8400 compatability perhaps or the SATA (IDE) set-up.
My new build is almost there now but I can't even begin to O/C until I have a properly stable benchmark.
