I just got a ATI 5870 video card. After installing it any time I had to turn on or restart my computer it would take a long time before it got to the system check screen. I just looked on the ASUS site and there's a BIOS updated listed for the problem I was having. So downloaded and flashed my BIOS and now my system starts up like normal but now I can't access my BIOS. When the system starts up, I hit DEL to enter setup but when it goes into the setup all I have is a black screen and nothing happens until I turn of my computer and turn it back on again. I need to get back into the BIOS so I can overclock it. Anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks.

One other question, this is the first time I've updated the BIOS on this board. I was running Rv. 0202 should I have done all the updates before going to 1406?

I don't thinking skipping the other updates would effect the outcome with the bios update.

Try reseting the bios and see if it works. Move jumper remove battery push power button a couple tomes to discharge the board. Wait a couple of minutes then put battery back. Move the jumper back of course.

See if it works. Other than that look at asus site for bios recovery options.

Thanks that did the trick. Now the problem I have is when I overclock the values are wrong. I OCed to 2.6 but when the system starts up its showing 1.95, my default clock is 2.1. There is also a fix for that in the ASUS BIOS updates but its an older update. Are all previous updates suppose to be in the newest or does each update target a specific thing?

Not sure what you mean system shows 1.95 at startup? Bios post screen? In windows?

Bios is compiled on top of each other pretty much. When you update bios it erases old so it doesn't matter.

I have Intel e6400, the stock clock is 2.13, I OCed to 2.6 but at the CPU check screen its only showing 1.95. In windows its show 2.6. There is a fix for this in BIOS update 1403 that will "Fix sometimes it will show incorrect frequency of certain CPU." I updated using 1406 but I guess that didn't make it.

Hmm didn't even think to look for a bios update to fix that. Seeing your probs though I think I'll just stick with mine, haven't updated it for years and waiting 30 seconds extra once a day won't bother me much, especially since I'll be finally moving to an i7 build in a month or two. Good luck.
