Asus P5N-E and e8400

Hello all. I was hoping somebody could possibly help or point me in the right direction.

I have recently purchased The P5N-e Motherboard and an e8400, but cpu-z shows the multiplier @ X6. I have disabled both power save modes (EIST and C1E) and changed the multiplier to X9, but when I save and exit the multiplier drops back to X6. It is really frustrating me right now!

Does anybody know what I am doing wrong? Thanks!

Sorry for the triple post, but I just ran ScienceMark and even when both cores are at 100% load, the CPU speed is still 2.0 GHz, X6 mutiplier. Is something wrong with my chip?

Cheers!

Back to basics: The ASUS P5N-E mobo is not properly compat with a C2D E8400 unless flashed with a version 0803 or higher bios ---> so which bios version are you currently using?

🙂

Cheers!

The computer was prebuilt and I figured they would at least update the bios so the chip was recognized. I was wrong. I flashed the bios to 1002 and it works perfect now!

Thanks!
