Asus 750i

I'm looking to upgrade boards in a bit but don't care at all about 3 way sli. I'm interested in the 750i because it will support sli and still have the 2.0 pci 16x and support the new intels. But from what I've read, I thought that the 750i would be like the 650i in that it would support sli at 16x, 8x mode. Looking at the specs page, to me this supports "full" SLI.

Am I right?

Seperate question, Does anybody know if this is just another spec'ed up 680i like the 780i are supposed to be?

You won't notice a really significant performance difference even if it ran at 8x/8x or 16x/8x or 16x/16x

I've noticed on other threads people post that the 8x, 8x doesn't show any significant performance drop or 16x16x. And also that 2.0 pci doesn't show any improvements over 1.0a or 1.1.

Is there a reason to upgrade beyond my 650i board other than to support the 45nm cpus?

If I hold my breath long enough, maybe MSI will update their 6 series bios to support them like EVGA?

No real advantage, but seeing as how some people say the 3870X2 performs better in PCI-E 2.0 suggests the X2 cards will surpass the 1.1 bandwidth, so aside from the 9800X2 I don't see any point in upgrading for you, and wish you luck on that MSI bios update :)
